Mengyin long-haired rabbit is a hybrid breed which is based on local long-haired rabbit and introduced into the legal and German lineages. It has the advantages of stable heredity, good variety and good wool quality. Mengyin long-haired rabbits in southern Shandong have strong adaptability to rough feeding and can be cultured in many areas.

在選種方面，養(yǎng)殖戶對于種兔的選擇也有一定的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，公兔要發(fā)育好、抗病強(qiáng)、性欲旺。母兔要體型大，粗毛含量高，產(chǎn)毛量高。3月齡后公母分開飼養(yǎng)，防止早配。非配種期種兔給予中等營養(yǎng)水平，不能使其過肥或過瘦。

配種前1個(gè)月，喂足全價(jià)飼料的同時(shí)增喂胡蘿卜、米糠，提高公兔性能力。毛兔配種時(shí)要剪毛。配種時(shí)把母兔捉到公兔籠內(nèi)，不宜在母兔籠內(nèi)進(jìn)行。
